Marcus Paulus is a ceramic artist based in Hamburg, known for his tactile sensibility and a distinctly material-driven aesthetic. His creative approach is shaped by an interdisciplinary background in fashion, design, and interior styling, resulting in a practice that bridges utility, form, and narrative.

In 2019, Paulus founded Pottery Club, a ceramics studio in Hamburg that quickly became a creative hub. After leading it for five years, he sold the concept in 2024 to focus entirely on his solo practice. He now works from his own studio in the Hamburg district of Blankenese.

Working predominantly in hand-built techniques, Paulus draws inspiration from Japanese pottery traditions and emphasizes the raw qualities of clay. His pieces are minimally glazed, allowing the material’s natural texture and expression to take center stage.

His work has been featured in publications such as Schöner Wohnen and has been used in styling and product presentations for leading interior and décor brands. Paulus has also showcased his ceramics at design fairs, including Domotex in Hannover.
